The latest innovation from DENTSPLY Maillefer is the X-Smart? Dual, a new endodontic motor with an integrated apex locator. This exciting new device can be used as a dual unit, alternatively, both the motor and the apex locator functions can be used separately.
The simple and easy-to use device has been designed for general dental practioners looking to achieve reliable and accurate endodontic results using rotary instrumentation such as the ProTaperฎ Universal system. The unit has all the benefits of the existing X-Smart motor with the added feature of the integrated apex locator for accurate length determination. When the apex locator function in on, file progression down the canal is clearly shown on the LCD screen and is accompanied by an audio signal. Like the X-Smart, the device has 9 simple memory programmes for setting desired speed and torque settings. The X-Smart Dual has auto-reverse, a re-chargeable battery which can be charged whilst operating the unit as well. A switch on the handpiece operates the unit, and a foot pedal is optional.
